Thank you for your interest in contributing to the La Joya Independent School District's Advisory Groups. These groups are vital in fostering open communication and collaboration between various stakeholders and the Superintendent of Schools. Each group will help ensure diverse perspectives are represented and considered in district policies, programs, and initiatives. Please complete the following application to be considered for one of the Advisory Groups.
Eligibility Check:
Once all applications are received, each will be reviewed to ensure that applicants meet the basic eligibility criteria:
Applicants must be part of the La Joya ISD community in their respective roles.
Initial Application Review:
A review committee made up of district staff will carefully read each application.
Each application will be evaluated based on the selection criteria:
District Presence – Represents the District positively and adds a diverse perspective to the Superintendent’s decision-making processes
Solution-Oriented – Demonstrates a problem-solving mindset that is productive and effective for the future planning of our District
Future Focused – Displays a desire to plan for the future of the District in all areas across La Joya ISD
Committee Deliberation:
The review committee will meet to discuss applicants and ensure balanced representation.
The committee will aim to select members who show a genuine interest in making a difference in our schools, our District and who bring diverse perspectives.
Finalist Selection:
A list of finalists will be selected based on the evaluations from the initial review.
Notification:
All applicants will be notified of their selection status via email or a letter from the district.
Finalists will receive details on the next steps, including meeting schedules and expectations for participation.

Thank you for your interest in being a part of the La Joya ISD Student Advisory Groups! The Superintendent is seeking diverse groups of students to help her shape the future of the District informed by your ideas. These student groups will give you a chance to share your ideas and use your voice to help build upon the great things happening, share ways in which our District can improve, and build a bright future for our District. You will get to work with other students, District Leadership, and the Superintendent to make our district even better now and in the future.

Selection Process for La Joya ISD Student Advisory Committees
To ensure a fair and transparent selection process, we have outlined the steps that will be taken to review and select students for the La Joya ISD Student Advisory Committees.
Eligibility Check:
Once all applications are received, each will be reviewed to ensure that students meet the basic eligibility criteria:
Applicants must be enrolled in La Joya ISD.
Applicants must be in 3rd-12th grade, depending on the committee they apply for.
Initial Application Review:
A review committee made up of campus staff will carefully read each application.
Each application will be evaluated based on the selection criteria:
School Spirit: Demonstrating pride and positivity about La Joya ISD.
Problem Solver: Ability to identify challenges and suggest solutions.
Future Thinker: A desire to plan and contribute to the future of the district.
All students will be given an equal chance to showcase these qualities through their answers.
Committee Deliberation:
The campus review committee, led by the campus principal, will meet to discuss applicants to select two students per campus based on criteria outlined.
The committee will aim to select students who show a genuine interest in making a difference in their schools and who bring diverse perspectives.
Finalist Selection:
The Campus Principal will make final recommendations to the Superintendent.
If necessary, some students may be contacted for additional information or a short interview to better understand their ideas and motivations.
Notification:
All applicants will be notified of their selection status via email or a letter from the district.
Finalists will receive details on the next steps, including meeting schedules and expectations for participation.
